The Furni­ture Society is honored to announce its stew­ard­ship of the $25,000 unre­stricted John D. Mineck Fellow­ship support­ing emerg­ing and early-career furniture makers.

TFS’ Exec­u­tive Direc­tor Monica Hampton was invited to speak to the board of direc­tors of the Fine Objects Society (FOS) during their first-anniver­sary members’ retreat in German­town, NY. Monica shared an overview of The Furni­ture Society’s history, current initia­tives, and strate­gic vision, high­light­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for align­ment between the two organizations.

Congrat­u­la­tions to TFS member Morgan Hill. Her neck­lace, Smörgås­bord, was recently acquired by the Smith­son­ian Amer­i­can Art Museum through the gener­ous gift of Diane Charnov and museum purchase through the Windgate Foun­da­tion Living Artists Acqui­si­tions Fund, 2025.18

Over the course of two days, The Furni­ture Society explored Manhat­tan and Brook­lyn studios, galleries, fabri­ca­tion studios, and the ener­getic hub that is the Inter­na­tional Contem­po­rary Furni­ture Fair (ICFF).

Furni­ture maker, educa­tor, and author Mark Sfirri received the Amer­i­can Asso­ci­a­tion of Wood­turn­ers 2024 Profes­sional Outreach Program (POP) Merit Award. Merit Award recip­i­ents are indi­vid­u­als selected by the Commit­tee who have shown excep­tional devel­op­ment in their careers as artists and whose artworks have directly influ­enced or had a signif­i­cant impact on other artists within the field of woodturning.
