Family Dinner

A solo exhibition by Vivian Chiu at Penland School of Craft

For her upcoming solo exhibition FAMILY DINNER at the Penland Gallery, Vivian Chin further develops the body of work she began in Passages (those that carried us), expanding the series of sculptural vessels to incorporate narrative marquetry, exploring conjoined vessels, larger-scale, and revolving vessels with interior rotating imagery. The marquetry will explore the artist’s narrative via childhood memories, portraits, and food from Chiu’s expansive family dinners in Hong Kong.

The Longest Distance Between Two Points, a solo exhibition by Katie Hudnall

Museum for Art in Wood

Katie Hudnall makes tools, furniture, and objects that are perfectly suited for a peculiar world. The first museum-organized solo presentation of Hudnall’s unique and captivating work, The Longest Distance between Two Points reveals a rare glimpse into the artist’s rich inner world. Here, the absurd and mechanically improbable merges with fine woodworking and salvaged wood materials to bring mechanisms and structures to life and action.

Exhibition dates: March 7 — July 202025
