Emma Senft

Emma Senft is an artist and woodworker based in Montreal, QC. Senft holds an MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a BFA from NSCAD University, and a trade diploma in Cabinetmaking. They create sculpture and furniture using wood, textiles and decontextualized construction materials. Reflecting on the interaction between our bodies and the built environment, Emma uses scale and spatial arrangement to prompt the viewer’s awareness of their own body in relation to the work. They are the recipient of grants from Canada Council for the Arts and le Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Quebec. They have been an artist-in-residence at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, the Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in South Korea.
