About TFS Membership

Begin­ning October 1, 2026, The Furni­ture Society is simpli­fy­ing member­ship into three tiers:
• Student
• Indi­vid­ual
• Group
The new struc­ture includes updated pricing, a stream­lined tier struc­ture, and addi­tional member benefits.

Student: $40
For indi­vid­u­als currently enrolled in a degree-grant­ing academic program.

Indi­vid­ual: $95
For indi­vid­ual makers, design­ers, educa­tors, students who have grad­u­ated, and others working in or inter­ested in the field.

Group: $200
For schools, studios, busi­nesses, galleries, museums, nonprof­its, collec­tives, and other organizations.

Group Member­ship has two options:
Organizational/​Business and School.
Both have the same pricing and membership structure.

Student and Indi­vid­ual members receive the same core bene­fits. Pricing reflects ability to pay, not level of access.

In addi­tion to the core member bene­fits avail­able to affil­i­ated members, Group Members receive orga­ni­za­tional bene­fits such as:
• Orga­ni­za­tional profile in the search­able member direc­tory
• Recog­ni­tion as an Orga­ni­za­tional Member Partner
• Addi­tional member logins at preferred rates
• Orga­ni­za­tional partic­i­pa­tion oppor­tu­ni­ties
• Confer­ence exhibitor eligi­bil­ity, where applicable

Coming in 2027, Group Members will have access to preferred rates on adver­tis­ing and spon­sor­ship oppor­tu­ni­ties through­out the year and at Furni­ture Society conferences.

These oppor­tu­ni­ties are sepa­rate from member­ship. Member­ship does not include adver­tis­ing, spon­sor­ship, or guar­an­teed promotional placement.

A Group Member­ship includes two member­ships at the Student or Indi­vid­ual level, as selected by the orga­ni­za­tion.
Addi­tional affil­i­ated members can be added during the member­ship term at:
• $65 per Indi­vid­ual
• $35 per Student

Group Member­ship is for orga­ni­za­tions and commu­ni­ties that want to partic­i­pate in The Furni­ture Society together.

No, you do not need to iden­tify the members at the time of purchase.
If an orga­ni­za­tion knows it wants to purchase addi­tional member­ships upfront, it can purchase those member­ships without provid­ing the names imme­di­ately. For example, an orga­ni­za­tion could purchase 10 Indi­vid­ual member­ships and add the names later.

Orga­ni­za­tions can also start with the two member­ships included with the Group Member­ship and add addi­tional Student or Indi­vid­ual member­ships at any time during the membership term.

The orga­ni­za­tion controls who is included in its member­ship and when members are added.

Addi­tional affil­i­ated members can be added during the membership term.

Once an addi­tional member­ship has been added, it remains active through the end of that member­ship term and is not eligi­ble for a partial refund if that person leaves the orga­ni­za­tion, school, or program.

The roster can be adjusted when the Group Member­ship is renewed.

From October 1 through Decem­ber 31, 2026, Group Member­ship is $175 instead of the regular $200 annual rate.

Addi­tional affil­i­ated members remain $65 for Indi­vid­u­als and $35 for Students.
Begin­ning January 1, 2027, the regular Group Member­ship rate is $200.

Members receive:

• Discounted confer­ence regis­tra­tion
• Early confer­ence regis­tra­tion
• Eligi­bil­ity for confer­ence admis­sion schol­ar­ships
• Eligi­bil­ity for member exhibitions

Group Members may also be eligi­ble for confer­ence exhibiting opportunities.

The Furni­ture Society Confer­ence is held every other year.

Student Member­ship is $40 and is avail­able to indi­vid­u­als currently enrolled in a degree-grant­ing acad­e­mic program or certifi­cate earning program.

Students will verify their current enroll­ment when purchas­ing or renewing membership.

Student Member­ship does not automatically renew.

Students must renew their member­ship and verify their current student status when they renew.

Student Member­ship is avail­able for the dura­tion of their enroll­ment, with a one-year grace period for current graduates.

Current members can renew at their exist­ing member­ship rate for one addi­tional year if they renew before October 1, 2026.

During that addi­tional year, they will retain their current member­ship and bene­fits and will also have access to new member bene­fits intro­duced after October 1.

At the end of that addi­tional year, their member­ship will tran­si­tion to either the Student or Indi­vid­ual tier, depend­ing on eligibility.

The Furni­ture Society will contact members before their tran­si­tion and provide guid­ance about the new membership structure.

Current members with higher-level member­ships can renew at their exist­ing member­ship rate for one additional year.

At the end of that addi­tional year, the member­ship will tran­si­tion to either the Student or Indi­vid­ual tier, depend­ing on eligibility.

Members who want to continue support­ing The Furni­ture Society at a higher level will have the option to make an additional donation.

Addi­tional infor­ma­tion about this tran­si­tion will be shared directly with affected members.

Options may be avail­able for discounted or complimentary memberships.

New member­ship pricing begins October 1, 2026.

The intro­duc­tory Group Member­ship rate of $175 is avail­able from October 1 through Decem­ber 31, 2026.

Begin­ning January 1, 2027, the regular Group Member­ship rate is $200.
