Ponkho Bermejo

Ponkho is a strong activist and indigenous/Latinx community organizer who is brilliant at innovation. In addition to being one of the Co-Directors, Ponkho is also BeLoved’s media expert. He loves supporting the community in expressing cultural pride, honoring ancestors, and teaching our youth their cultural roots. He loves photography, art, music, and creativity and he uses these gifts to celebrate culture and work for racial equity and social justice. He has been given awards for his work by the Asheville Area Arts Council and Co-Thinnk. He works to create equity and access for BIPOC and low wealth communities. He was most recently named Peacemaker of the Year in Western North Carolina.
