Katie Thompson is an artist, writer and advocate based outside of Charleston, SC. She is the creator of the Women of Woodworking project and Pen & Chisel, and has served on The Furniture Society Board of Trustees since 2022 and hosts their monthly affinity group meeting for women in woodworking. Katie has more than 14 years of experience in the public relations and non-profit fields, and teaches marketing strategies to other artists and business owners at schools such as the Charleston Woodworking School and the North Bennet Street School. In her own creative career she has published two children’s book projects and her work has been exhibited internationally. Katie also enjoys volunteering and raising awareness for important causes, and increasing representation and access for all.
