In this work­shop, students use power carving and hand carving tools to create unique, sculp­tural stools out of wood. Demon­stra­tions include using simple joinery and glue-up tech­niques to build up stool struc­tures and safe use of power and hand tools

In this work­shop, students use power carving and hand carving tools to create unique, sculp­tural stools out of wood. Demon­stra­tions include using simple joinery and glue-up tech­niques to build up stool struc­tures and safe use of power and hand tools such as angle grinders, rasps, spoke­shaves, and carving gouges. Students explore ergonomic shapes for stool struc­tures and the various tools needed to achieve excit­ing surface textures on wood.

Faculty: Keun Ho Peter Park

Keun Ho Peter Park is an inter­na­tional artist, wood­worker, and instru­ment maker who teaches at the Univer­sity of the Arts in Philadel­phia, PA. He holds a BFA in paint­ing from South Korea’s Kookmin Univer­sity and an MFA in wood­work­ing and furni­ture design from the Rochester Insti­tute of Technology.
