Pieter Estersohn
Pieter Estersohn was born and grew up in Manhattan across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While a freshman at Sarah Lawrence College, he worked for Andy Warhol at Interview Magazine, writing articles about iconic photographers such as Louise Dahl-Wolfe and Albert Eisenstadt. For his Junior year, he transferred to University in Paris where he studied Art History and Economics. In his senior year he started shooting for the British, Italian, and German editions of Vogue, always presenting the models in historic interiors. Upon returning to the United States in 1986, he started focusing on architecture and interiors, working for Elle Decor, then Architectural Digest, and now for The World of Interiors, published by Condé Nast in London. He has worked on over 60 books, and recently is writing as well as photographing them. His last book, Back to the Land, published by Rizzoli, was released in April, 2024.
