Max Hoener is a furniture designer and craftsman based in New York's scenic Hudson Valley. From a family of artists and designers, he always had a passion for woodworking and design, but came to the craft later in life. Before pursuing a full time career as a small business owner and furniture maker, Max served as a Director of Sales and Marketing for boutique luxury hotels around the world. Traveling to far flung destinations exposed him to interesting design, and fostered a strong appreciation for high-end craft. Although Max focuses heavily on traditional tools and techniques in his work, he also has a passion for early American industrial machinery. As part of an ongoing commitment to professional growth, Kezurou-Kai (thin shaving hand plane competitions with Japanese Kanna) has become a staple in his everyday life and work - Max won both events held in the USA in 2024 and hopes to compete on the main stage in Japan soon!
