Dan Carlson
Dan Carlson is a creative industry professional based in New York CIty who works across multiple fields in the art and design world. His experience is focused on project management and creative problem solving in cultural institutions, design/build firms, and academic settings. Often working behind the scenes, he can be found orchestrating the mechanics of managing people and spaces that include museum and gallery exhibitions, production wood shops, boutique storefront and luxury apartment remodels, and live events. Dan prides himself on being able to fluidly adapt to non-hierarchical roles, at home in both large administrative offices and on the ground with tools in hand on complex job sites. Former titles include Manager of Installation at MoMA PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Gallery Installation and Warehouse Manager at The Future Perfect, and Fabrication Facilities Manager at Parsons The New School. He currently works as a finish carpenter for high-end fashion houses in Manhattan like Ralph Lauren and Brunello Cucinelli, and as Senior Project Manager for Brooklyn-based design/build firm Lineweight Consultants. Dan holds an MFA from Parsons and a BFA from James Madison University, and has completed artist residencies in the US and abroad.
