Japanese Kumiko Technique with Norman Pirollo
Creation of a Kumiko panel using small hand-shaped components. The Kumiko decorative panel is in turn integrated into the door of a display case. Kumiko is a traditional Japanese process of creating intricate patterns or motifs used in furniture and integrated into walls and room dividers. The concept is to have light enter and exit through an intricately formed lattice while introducing a series of small shadows to add intrigue to the opening. The effect is striking and becomes a focal point of this display case.
