FS Connects Presents: The Founders and Their Furniture: An In-depth Look at the Material Culture of the Early Republic

Grant Quert­er­mous, Curator and Direc­tor of Collec­tions for the Richard Hampton Jenrette Foun­da­tion, will discuss signif­i­cant pieces of furni­ture asso­ci­ated with the Founders currently on display in the exhibit he guest curated, Diplo­macy at Home: The Domes­tic Lives of the Found­ing Fami­lies, now on view at the Katonah Museum of Art (Katonah, New York) through October 4. The virtual lecture will focus on the mate­ri­als and construc­tion details of each piece of furni­ture, its prove­nance, use, details about the cabi­net­maker (when known), and its role in our nation’s history.
