The Furniture Society have partnered with Arrowmont, John C Campbell Folk School, Peters Valley, and Pocosin Arts to offer one scholarship and grant per partnering institution to attend a workshop for the 2025 summer season.
Every scholarship/granting opportunity with our partner organizations are different. Please make sure to review each opportunity and requirements before applying.

DEADLINES:
- Applications will be accepted starting December 4, 2024
- Deadline for all submissions: January 5, 2025
- Winners will be notified by January 27, 2025
- Applicant must accept no later than February 3, 2025
DETAILS:
- Review the terms of all the grants offered in 2025. Every granting opportunity is different. All terms with our partner organizations differ as well.
- You must be a member of The Furniture Society, with the exception of the Anderson Ranch BIPOC grant. If you are applying for the Anderson Ranch grant, you can apply here.
- Only serious applicants should apply. You must be able to take on the financial and time commitment required.
- All Grant winners will be selected through a jury process. Grant winners will be notified by email on or before January 27, 2025 and will need to accept grant no later than February 3, 2025 otherwise they will forfeit the opportunity and the runner-up will be offered the grant opportunity.
- Grant winners will be expected to submit a written report to the Furniture Society no later than December 1, 2025, detailing their use of the Educational Grant and the impact it had on their career and/or the field of furniture. Reports must include images and a short narrative that might be used to promote the Educational Grant program and the mission of the Furniture Society.
- ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- You must must be a currently enrolled member of The Furniture Society to apply and take part in the Arrowmont, John C. Campbell, Peters Valley, and Pocosin grant opportunities. BECOME A MEMBER. Those who have received a grant from The Furniture Society in 2024 are NOT eligible.
- Participants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
- To apply, your member profile must be updated with 3 or more pieces created in the last 5 years.
- You will be asked to submit a minimum of 6 images of your work by uploading them to your member profile page. These may be 6 images of 6 different pieces, or 3 pieces with 1 detail image per piece. Your member profile will hold up to 15 images, so more photos are encouraged.
- If you’d like to be considered for more than one grant, you must submit a separate application and may only submit one application per partnering organization.
- There will be one winner per grant and no one will win more than one grant per year.
PARTNER GRANT TERMS:
- Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts: Full scholarship for a one-week workshop, including basic workshop tuition, housing, and meals. Applicant must be a Furniture Society member to apply.
Grant recipient may opt to pay the difference to upgrade their accommodations or tuition for specific workshops, and are also responsible for travel expenses and art material fees associated with their workshop. The Furniture Society offers $500 to recipient to help offset the cost of travel and materials to be reimbursed after the workshop ends.
Arrowmont 2025 summer workshop schedule
- John C. Campbell Folk School: Full tuition for a 1‑week workshop plus room and board. Additional costs will be material fees for the class and travel (or if they choose to upgrade their housing tier). Applicant must be a Furniture Society member to apply. The room and board covered will be for Dormitory/Double Room housing. Additional costs to the grant recipient will include material fees for the class and travel (or if they choose to upgrade their housing tier). The Furniture Society offers $500 to recipient to help offset the cost of travel and materials to be reimbursed after the workshop ends.
John C. Campbell 2025 summer workshop schedule - Peters Valley School of Craft: Full tuition for a 1‑week immersive class of the applicant’s choice, in any medium, this includes lodging and meals. Travel and studio/materials fees are the responsibility of the grant recipient. Applicant must be a Furniture Society member to apply. The Furniture Society offers $500 to recipient to help offset the cost of travel and materials to be reimbursed after the workshop ends.
Peters Valley 2025 summer workshop schedule
- Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft: Full scholarship for a one-week workshop which includes workshop tuition, housing (quad or double) and meals. This scholarship can only be applied to Summer 2025 on campus, in person workshops in our wood studio. Grant recipient is responsible for travel expenses and material/studio fees associated with their workshop. Any housing upgrades are the financial responsibility of the grant recipient. Applicants must be a Furniture Society member to apply. The Furniture Society offers $500 to recipient to help offset the cost of travel and materials to be reimbursed after the workshop ends.
Pocosin Arts 2025 summer workshop schedule
Where applicable, classes will be selected after the recipient has been chosen and are at the discretion of the partnering organization and subject to availability.
