Zachary Warwas

I am a Los Angeles-based artist and wood­worker born in 1980 and raised in Berke­ley, Cali­for­nia. Since 2011, I have been explor­ing the theme of wall-hung wood sculp­tures, orga­niz­ing them on a grid to allow for inter­ac­tive rearrange­ment and self-expres­sion. My goal is to create a tactile and collab­o­ra­tive expe­ri­ence for viewers, provid­ing an instru­ment that anyone can play and manip­u­late to reveal a part of them­selves. By giving control to the viewer, I hope to culti­vate a sense of owner­ship and pride in the inter­ac­tive expe­ri­ence. Each project is a study towards a better under­stand­ing of color and inter­ac­tion, with each finished work opening up new oppor­tu­ni­ties for explo­ration and growth as an artist.
