Mia Donalson graduated with their BFA in craft and material studies. Functioning within the artistic canon of contemporary craft and confessional art, they makes work that requires awareness and connection during interaction with a defamiliarized object. 22.5 oz rock, linen, cherry and ash wood / 2025 16”×5”×7.5”The rock in the cabinet is ‘evidence’ from my past and the slow damage of the shelf below shows my satirical need for proof. In the irony of this object breaking itself, I am asking for help through others’ participation to help me re-learn a sense of self.

cherry and ceramic / 2022 2’6”×3’6”×2’3”This work combines wood, clay, and human interaction to represent the fawn trauma response categorized by extreme people-pleasing behavior. This table accommodates the whims of those who would touch it while maintaining the levelness of its central bowl.
