- About
Kelly Parker is a designer and maker of contemporary studio furniture and sculpture. After graduating with a degree in Biochemistry she worked in the corporate world for 18 years before taking a rather circuitous route into art. In 2009 she took the plunge, shucked the safety of the corporate world and decided to make her living as a woodworker. She has taken numerous design and technique classes at Anderson Ranch Arts Center and the Marc Adams School of Woodworking.
She has a deep appreciation and reverence for wood and especially likes using reclaimed, gifted or site-harvested lumber. She designs and creates one-of-a-kind and limited production pieces in her studio in Parkville, Missouri, often incorporating other materials such as metal and glass. She also writes and teaches internationally.
