Ernie Conover

Ernie Conover, who describes himself as a cabi­net­maker with a wood­turn­ing problem, is a veteran wood­work­ing author with 11 books, myriad videos, and hundreds of arti­cles to his credit. His most recent book is the 3rd Edition of The Lathe Book, published by Taunton Press in Febru­ary 2020. He served on the found­ing board of The Amer­i­can Asso­ci­a­tion of Wood­turn­ers and holds Member­ship Number 004. 

His work has received numer­ous awards and has been the subject of several one-man shows. He lectures widely for clubs, trade show groups, and wood­work­ing stores and is frequently called upon as a consul­tant and expert witness in the wood­work­ing field. Ernie is also a lathe designer, having devel­oped his own lathe and contributed to the designs of the Nova and the Power­matic 3520b. When not writing, lectur­ing, or consult­ing, he teaches at Conover Work­shops — a craft school where his wife, Susan, runs a fiber program focused on floor loom weaving.
