Brian Wurst

Brian Wurst is the lead instruc­tor in Haywood Commu­nity College’s Profes­sional Crafts Wood program. He began his career as a commer­cial archi­tect, then tran­si­tioned to the more hands-on, personal-scale role of wood­worker. From his Asheville studio he has since fash­ioned work across two decades for galleries, homes, and busi­nesses in the region and beyond. While teach­ing full-time, Brian still under­takes occa­sional exhi­bi­tion pieces and commis­sions that feature curves, explo­ration of tech­niques, and region­ally-inspired natural themes.
