Stipend: $6500

Meals: provided when dining hall is open and access to fully equipped communal kitchen

Housing: on campus housing provided in single room with shared bath

Key Respon­si­bil­i­ties:

Repre­sent Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft.

Support work­shop faculty, staff, and students; super­vise woodshop activities.

Manage wood studio oper­a­tions, includ­ing supply orders, inven­tory manage­ment, routine main­te­nance, and safety oversight.

Act as liaison for visit­ing instruc­tors, coor­di­nat­ing studio equip­ment and supply needs.

Welcome and orient visit­ing instruc­tors, ensur­ing prepared­ness for workshops.

Handle admin­is­tra­tive tasks and hands-on assign­ments like build­ing shop fixtures.

Under­take addi­tional respon­si­bil­i­ties as needed.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions:

Bach­e­lor’s degree or equiv­a­lent studio experience.

Profi­ciency in main­tain­ing fully equipped wood studios, includ­ing equip­ment and tools.

Deep under­stand­ing of wood and fine craftsmanship.

Ability to work inde­pen­dently, follow guid­ance, and collaborate effectively.

Expe­ri­ence in construc­tion and fabri­ca­tion related to studio orga­ni­za­tion or modification.

Pref­er­ence for candi­dates with expe­ri­ence in a craft school environment.

Require­ments:

Posses­sion of a vehicle and valid driver’s license (due to rural location).

Avail­abil­ity for the entire contract period.

Finan­cial respon­si­bil­ity for travel and personal workshop materials.

Work Sched­ule:

May: Monday to Friday, 9 AM — 5 PM

Summer Work­shops: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an hour lunch break, days off (Satur­day and one other weekday)

Sunday: After­noon until comple­tion of studio tours/​instructor meetings
