The VCUarts Emerg­ing Artist Fellow­ship in Craft/​Material Studies is a one acad­e­mic year resi­dency for recent MFA grad­u­ates. Fellows are provided the oppor­tu­nity to concen­trate on their work, build commu­nity, gain valu­able teach­ing expe­ri­ence, and partic­i­pate in a vital, inter­dis­ci­pli­nary, socially progres­sive commu­nity of artists at VCUarts. A grant awarded by the Char­i­ta­ble Windgate Foun­da­tion gener­ously supports the VCUarts Emerg­ing Artist Fellow­ship in Craft/​Material Studies.

The fellow will teach two classes per semes­ter (8 credits per semes­ter), present a public talk or partic­i­pate in a panel discus­sion, and could serve as a guest critic or guest speaker in a class. An addi­tional poten­tial oppor­tu­nity may exist for a solo exhi­bi­tion at VCUarts.

This non-renew­able, one-year oppor­tu­nity begins August 16, 2025 and ends May 152026

Salary

- The Fellow will receive a part-time adjunct faculty contract with an instruc­tional salary of $50,000. This part-time oppor­tu­nity is not eligi­ble for benefits.

- Support for creative research and travel will be provided

- This is a one-year, non-renewable opportunity
