Joyce Lin
Artist + Designer

Joyce Lin is an artist and sculptural furniture maker whose work explores the connections between outer surfaces and interiors and the ongoing erosion of boundaries between the natural and the man-made. Her cross-disciplinary interests led her to the Brown/RISD Dual Degree Program, where she studied Furniture Design at the Rhode Island School of Design and Geology-Biology at Brown University. She has since exhibited in notable venues such as R & Company in NYC, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Her pieces are held in collections including the RISD Museum, The Mint Museum, Carnegie Museum of Art, Munson Museum of Art, Houston Civic Arts Collection, New Orleans Museum of Art, and SFMOMA. In addition to her studio practice, Lin has several years of experience teaching woodworking, art, and design at Houston’s TXRX Labs as well as the Rhode Island School of Design.
