The family of Wendell Castle is pleased to offer members of The Furni­ture Society a rare oppor­tu­nity to tour the legendary artist’s studio in Scottsville, NY. The studio now houses the Wendell Castle Work­shop, a new nonprofit wood­work­ing and metal­work­ing school (wendell​cas​tle​.org).

Widely recog­nized as the Father of the Art Furni­ture Move­ment, Wendell Castle’s work is show­cased in museums and private collec­tions around the globe. The studio itself features a gallery of his iconic pieces, along with works by his widow, Nancy Jurs. Wendell spent over 50 years creat­ing in this space, which also served as the family home for a time.

This is a unique chance to explore the very studio where Wendell Castle’s master­pieces came to life. In addi­tion to completed works, you’ll have the oppor­tu­nity to view partial pieces, models, draw­ings, and paint­ings that offer insight into his creative process. 

The studio is located just 90 minutes from Syra­cuse Univer­sity, and a limited number of spots are avail­able for the tour. Reser­va­tions are required.
