Soul Brown
Since 2020, Dr. Soul has directed RISD Research where she’s been creating a sponsored research ecosystem to support artists + designers in obtaining grants, fellowships, and residencies to further their creative + scholarly practices, tackle local + global issues, and open up new understanding. Support has come from philanthropy, government, industry, and private donors.
Previously, Soul generated over $20 million dollars in grant funding for community colleges, arts organizations, nonprofits, and artists in Massachusetts. She has also been a consultant to artists and nonprofit leaders through the Social Innovation Forum.
Along with three decades of experience in arts, media, and nonprofit sectors, Soul has a doctorate in Education and Leadership from Pacific University, a Master of Public Administration from Framingham State University, and a Bachelor of Arts, English from Tufts University.
