Rosanne Somerson
Artist, Educator, 2012 AoD Recipient
Rosanne Somerson is a woodworker, furniture designer/maker, educator, and current President of Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). An artist connected with the early years of the Studio Furniture, her work and career have been influential to the field. She is best known for one-of-a-kind pieces and has maintained a full-time professional studio practice. She ran the M.F.A. Graduate Program in Furniture Design and she co-founded the creation of the Furniture Design department at RISD.
Rosanne was the 2012 recipient of The Furniture Society's Award of Distinction.
