Executive Director
Mia Hall joined the Penland School of Craft in 2017 as its seventh executive director. The school is the largest of its kind in the United States and is located on 420 beautiful acres in the mountains of Western NC. Penland offers over 130 short and long-term workshops annually as well as several residency programs.
Hall received her BA and MFA in furniture design from San Diego State University and held a tenured faculty position at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock for ten years. Prior to joining the Penland School as the executive director, she served as the art and design department chair at UALR. She has also taught summer and weekend workshops at craft schools such as Haystack, Arrowmont and Marc Adams and has an extensive national exhibition record. Her personal artwork is included in a number of notable personal and institutional collections.
