Mary May
Mary May is a European trained, professional woodcarver. She has her studio in Charleston, South Carolina where she works on carving commissions for designers, architects and furniture makers, focusing on classical designs. Mary teaches woodcarving at various schools throughout the US and Europe and also has an online video school with hundreds of instructional videos. She has published her first book, Carving the Acanthus Leaf, and has been a guest on The Woodwright's Shop with Roy Underhill four times. Mary has written feature articles for the magazines Fine Woodworking, Popular Woodworking, and Woodcarving Illustrated. Her passion is to create beauty in wood and to help keep this traditional art alive and well into the next generation.
