Nuts & Bolts: Behind the Scenes at Norman Teague Design Studio

Makers

Thursday, Oct 1 4:00 – 7:00

Thursday, October 1, 4 – 7pm CDT

Join us for a captivating talk, tour, and light bites with Norman Teague and his team at Norman Teague Design Studio in West Humboldt Park, Chicago IL.

Norman will share his research and design process as he walks us through his studio and workshop where he and the team design, collaborate, and create furniture, sculpture, and objects for the community, galleries, and museums, to name a few.

Get an up-close look at the pieces and prototypes that NTDS is known for — the Sinmi Stool, the benches for the Obama Presidential Center, the Africana Collection, and more.

Norman will talk about how he successfully merges digital fabrication technology with handcrafted methods, the importance of what and why they make for the community, how collaborations with other makers/studios come to fruition, and the importance of the design field within communities of color.

Space is limited for this unique experience.
