This virtual conversation and studio visit will explore the history and ongoing legacy of Shaker design. Curator Sarah Margolis-Pineo will present an overview of Shaker material culture, highlighting a selection of iconic 19th-century works of Shaker furniture. To bring this history forward, master woodworker and author C.H. Becksvoort will take us through into his studio and showroom to discuss the ways he engages the design and craftsmanship of Shaker furniture today.
