Fred Rose

The Furni­ture Society is honored to present the 2025 Service Award to long-stand­ing member Fred Rose, in recog­ni­tion of his excep­tional commit­ment and service to the Society through his creation of the Award of Distinction trophies.

The (Steffi Dotson) Service Award is bestowed upon an active member of The Furni­ture Society who has demon­strated extra­or­di­nary dedi­ca­tion and service to the orga­ni­za­tion. Named in honor of former Pres­i­dent Stef­fanie Dotson, the award acknowl­edges her stead­fast lead­er­ship and invalu­able contri­bu­tions during a pivotal period in the Society’s history.

In 2019, Mr. Rose was selected as the winner of the inau­gural Award of Distinc­tion Trophy Design Contest. His proposal was chosen by distin­guished jurors Wendy Maruyama and Monica Obniski from a compet­i­tive field of appli­cants. His design was lauded for captur­ing the essence of the Award of Distinc­tion and for symbol­iz­ing the Society’s deep appre­ci­a­tion for those honored.

Initially commis­sioned to create trophies for a three-year term, Mr. Rose has contin­ued his work well beyond the orig­i­nal scope of the contest. To date, he has crafted eight unique award pieces — each thought­fully and sensi­tively designed to reflect the spirit and accom­plish­ments of its recipient.

The Furni­ture Society is deeply grate­ful for Mr. Rose’s ongoing generos­ity, artis­tic excel­lence, and unwa­ver­ing dedi­ca­tion to this important tradition.

Fittingly, the 2025 Service Award trophy has been designed by Steffi Dotson herself, for whom the award was orig­i­nally estab­lished and named
