Biography

Scott Grove designs and makes award-winning art furniture using a harmonious blend of uniquely carved woods with radiant figured grains and multi-media sculpture. His rich signature finishes and textures create a desire to touch each piece for a sensuous, pleasurable experience. Sophisticated and elegant with a touch of whimsy, his work raises a sense of wonder and delight.

As an artist, sculptor and designer, Grove works directly with interior designers, architects and private collectors. He lectures and holds workshops nationally on topics such as design, specialty finishes, veneering, mold making and fiberglass construction.

His work is a part of the permanent collection of the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee and the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York. Grove has won numerous awards including the Veneer Tech Craftsman’s Challenge Award for two of his works, an unprecedented achievement.

Grove has also authored a number of books including his most recent, Advanced Veneering, for Schiffer Publishing. His work has been featured in publications such as Fine Woodworking Magazine, Celebrated Living (American Airlines First Class Magazine), Woodshop News, Architectural Record, Interior Design, Design New York, The Robb Report and the Los Angeles Times, among others. He has been featured on HGTV’s The Furniture Show.

A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in environmental design and a minor in sculpture, Grove also studied at RIT’s School for American Crafts.

He maintains a studio in downtown Rochester where he produces sculpture, commission work and speculative furniture, as well as limited edition pieces.
