About

Max Kaplan Is living and Working In Fort Bragg, CA while being immersed in the fine furniture program founded by James Krenov at the College of the Redwoods. He received a bachelors of arts with honors in Comparative Design Studies at Pitzer College. His research in Knowledge Flows Of Sustainable Construction in Ghana” strongly influences his understanding of production and material usage.

While intellectually stimulated by design, the hands on” approach has consumed Max’s life. Beginning as a studio potter, Max found himself working through a variety of media. His projects have included work in farming, bicycle mechanics and, of course, wood.

Born in West Virginia and raised in the Chicago area, he hopes to take what he learns from the Program and apply it not only to his personal practice but also to his approach and involvement with future endeavors.

His work can been seen on display at the Highlight Gallery in Mendocino, Ca
