- About
Keith Moore has been designing and building uniquely modern, fun, and practical furniture, lighting, and clocks for nearly 20 years.
Keith’s background in graphic design informs his style in the interplay of bold color, shapes, and patterns. His work was ignited while attending Colorado State University by the discovery of the Italian Memphis Design Group and the work of Ettore Sottsass Jr., Matheo Thun, Michele de Lucchi and others. Their experiments in color and form, and the mix of high and low materials inspired him. In addition to Memphis, his influences range from Marc Newson and Maya Linn, to Louise Nevelson, Syd Mead, Donald Judd and Peter Gabriel.
Since he started, his designs have evolved from his original influences into stylized creations that have a playful nature to them. This is achieved by embracing technology and mixing materials such as vinyl, laminate, glass, MDF, wood, 3D printed components, and various metals to realize the final form. Keith is at his best when he’s solving problems for a challenging design. He doesn’t consider himself a woodworker, but rather a designer who might use wood as a starting point. He is interested in all the possibilities of material and form with the goal to create objects of lasting design and regard for sustainability.
Working as an independent artist and maker for over 20 years, Keith has maintained a successful design business, formerly Pilot Design, now known as Keith Moore Design. He has designed, made, sold, and shipped over 750 handmade products nationally and internationally including clocks, furniture, and lighting. He has garnered a five star satisfaction rating from 225 buyers and nearly 4000 favorites on Etsy. His work has appeared on HGTV, and in Dwell, Fast Company and Midwest Home magazines, as well as numerous design blogs including Design Milk.
