George Ayres

My work is based in a love of wood. The pieces are often shaped by grain and color — never fully dictated by an archi­tec­tural drawing. I find beauty in clean mini­mal­ist lines and tradi­tional joinery tech­nique. I try to make all attempts to keep the work’s envi­ron­men­tal foot­print as light as possi­ble — part­ner­ing with local arti­sans and shops and making a conscious effort to work with local woods when­ever possi­ble. ​“I want my pieces to repre­sent a place, and sourc­ing wood or hard­ware from other conti­nents is in direct conflict with that idea.”
