A life long dedication to the study of woodworking and design, Designer, Maker Bill Castonia embarked on a career as a self-employed woodworker in 1976. Acquiring the tools, mastering the techniques. Cabinet making, millwork, that passion for the creation of fine furnishings consumed the decades. Custom homes taken from design concept thru execution including the complete fabrication of extensive interior & exterior millwork packages was the primary focus of the first four decades Drawing from this culmination has led to this passion for studio furniture. The developing of concepts of execution for the creation of design, a designs relationship to its surroundings, that proportions, detailing and finishes must relate. By intent Castonia’s current work is an experimental approach to design by combining innovative techniques, sound building practices, the infusion of color, thereby taking one’s work to the level of being decorative art. Castonia’s studio furniture produced in limited editions, to one of a kind commissions can be found in a number of private, corporate and public collections.
