As a Design-Build firm, we excel in creat­ing custom fabri­ca­tion pieces. Our depart­ments include: Metal, Wood, Uphol­stery, and Glass. However, those are not limit­ing mate­ri­als to our design­ers depend­ing on what the client wants done for the project.

Scathain is an indus­try leading design and build firm based in downtown Milwaukee.

We special­ize in custom pieces of case­work, mill­work, metal­work, furni­ture, and art for a wide range of clients. We are looking for a team player who can drive contin­u­ous improve­ment through­out the company.

We are looking for a cutting edge creative problem solver with a high atten­tion to detail and passion for manu­fac­tur­ing. Someone who can tackle any project and see it through from concept to comple­tion. A fluid ability to collab­o­ra­tively work with a team.

Role

- Collab­o­rate with all key team members, includ­ing clients, to develop and refine project designs

- Quickly iterate designs with client feedback

- Engi­neer projects for efficient fabrication

- Design inside a range of different aesthetics

- Work within a defined project budget

Respon­si­bil­i­ties and Essential Functions

- Create build draw­ings and docu­men­ta­tion neces­sary for construc­tion and instal­la­tion of assigned projects

- Gener­ate the mate­ri­als list for projects and partic­i­pate in the sourc­ing of materials

- Ensure that build draw­ings accu­rately define project scope and contain all necessary information

- Redline draw­ings based on peer and client review

- Work with fabri­ca­tion team on the shop floor as issues arise

- Iden­tify the need for permits and licenses when neces­sary and ensure compli­ance with all safety regu­la­tions and building codes

- Conduct site checks to verify dimen­sions and assess site conditions

- Work to ensure all project dead­lines and prof­itabil­ity goals are met

- Drive contin­u­ous improve­ment in the Design department

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions

- Expe­ri­ence with archi­tec­tural plans and conceptual drawings

- 2 to 4 years of 3D model­ing and draft­ing expe­ri­ence in a profes­sional setting (Rhino 7 preferred)

- Case­work, mill­work, furni­ture, or other build experience critical

- Ability to adapt to various projects in a fast-paced environment

- Knowl­edge of MS Office Suite and Adobe Suite preferred 

- Thor­ough knowl­edge of mate­ri­als, equip­ment and the fabrication/​construction industry

- Highly orga­nized indi­vid­ual with the ability to plan ahead, manage time appro­pri­ately, and handle multi­ple projects/​tasks concurrently

- Firm grasp on current market trends in inte­rior design and custom furniture

- Degree in Indus­trial Design, Archi­tec­ture, Engi­neer­ing, or commen­su­rate industry experience
