Scathain is an industry leading design and build firm based in downtown Milwaukee.
We specialize in custom pieces of casework, millwork, metalwork, furniture, and art for a wide range of clients. We are looking for a team player who can drive continuous improvement throughout the company.

Role
- Collaborate with all key team members, including clients, to develop and refine project designs
- Quickly iterate designs with client feedback
- Engineer projects for efficient fabrication
- Design inside a range of different aesthetics
- Work within a defined project budget
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Create build drawings and documentation necessary for construction and installation of assigned projects
- Generate the materials list for projects and participate in the sourcing of materials
- Ensure that build drawings accurately define project scope and contain all necessary information
- Redline drawings based on peer and client review
- Work with fabrication team on the shop floor as issues arise
- Identify the need for permits and licenses when necessary and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes
- Conduct site checks to verify dimensions and assess site conditions
- Work to ensure all project deadlines and profitability goals are met
- Drive continuous improvement in the Design department
Qualifications
- Experience with architectural plans and conceptual drawings
- 2 to 4 years of 3D modeling and drafting experience in a professional setting (Rhino 7 preferred)
- Casework, millwork, furniture, or other build experience critical
- Ability to adapt to various projects in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite and Adobe Suite preferred
- Thorough knowledge of materials, equipment and the fabrication/construction industry
- Highly organized individual with the ability to plan ahead, manage time appropriately, and handle multiple projects/tasks concurrently
- Firm grasp on current market trends in interior design and custom furniture
- Degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering, or commensurate industry experience
