Consulting Curator/Project Coordinator GreenWood
GreenWood is seeking a consulting curator/project coordinator to develop a Conservation by Design 2.0 exhibition. The original Conservation by Design was a large-scale traveling exhibition of wood art designed to raise awareness about sustainable forestry and responsible wood use. Featuring the work of over 70 artists, it opened at the RISD Museum of Art in 1993, traveled across the country and closed at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in 1996.
Responding to global impacts of climate change, GreenWood aims to expand the exhibition’s focus on sustainable craft to include a collaborative and replicable educational framework. The project will connect working artists and students in woodworking programs with regional environmental consultants around the country, sharing knowledge and inspiring their creation of work for a traveling exhibition. The show will energize local and national communities to address forest preservation and conservation of wood resources.
This half-time position runs from October 2022 to April 2023. The curator will work closely with the GreenWood director and board, advancing the GreenWood mission and fostering a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
