Percent for the arts and other funding sources have made public art a booming market for artists who are prepared to participate. Because they are accustomed to working with clients on complex projects, furniture makers are well-suited to participate in public art programs. This panel will discuss how to identify opportunities; and how to compete successfully for public art projects, comply with requirements, negotiate contracts, and avoid pitfalls.
Biography

Moderator/panelist: Craig Nutt, a sculptor, furniture maker, and public artist, his work is in numerous public collections including the Smithsonian’s American Art Museum and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He was recently commissioned by the Metro Nashville Arts Commission to create a public art work commemorating the 2010 Nashville flood as part of its Watermarks program.
