The Chair Arch unveiling Saturday, October 12, 2019. 4 – 6pm at CURVE Studios & Garden, #3,5,&7 River Arts Place in Asheville’s River Arts District

Inspired by an 1877 arch made of chairs by the furniture makers of High Wycombe, UK, the chair nerds at Silver River Center for Chair Caning will be unveiling an 8 ft tall cathedral chair arch in the garden at CURVE Studios in Asheville’s River Arts District. The original arch was erected to welcome Queen Victoria’s carriage as it drove through town and was resurrected several times in High Wycombe since the 19th century. The contemporary arch honors CURVE Studios & Garden’s 30th Anniversary and is made of 15 iconic woven chairs. It will be unveiled with a champagne toast and cake as part of the River Arts District’s Second Saturday Events October 12 at 4pm at 3, 5, & 7 River Arts Place, Asheville, NC 28801. Other activities include a rush weaving workshop at Silver River Chairs from 11 – 2, an artist talk by ceramicist Cassie Butcher at 2pm, with the party in the garden to follow from 430 – 7pm. Raise a glass and toast 3 decades of craft and local business.
