INNOVATION+DESIGN 2021 Inter­na­tional Society Of Furniture Designers

Inno­va­tion + Design is a furni­ture indus­try-spon­sored compe­ti­tion intended for profes­sional Maker/​Designers and the next gener­a­tion of serious wood­work­ing students who are antic­i­pat­ing a career in the wood and related industries.

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Enter 2021 INNO­VA­TION + DESIGN, ISFD’s second annual Maker/​Designer juried compe­ti­tion and exhi­bi­tion. A ​“must see” live and in-person event at Congdon Yards in High Point, NC during the week of Septem­ber 19th. The exhi­bi­tion of finalist’s prod­ucts will also be shown to the public at Theater Art Galleries from October Through Decem­ber 2021, showing your designs to the over 500,000 citi­zens living in the Greens­boro, High Point and Winston-Salem, North Carolina area.

Prizes will be given for profes­sional and student levels in the follow­ing Cate­gories: Seating, occa­sional tables, occa­sional storage, light­ing, acces­sories and dining room furni­ture. Entry Fee $50

Profes­sional Contest Prizes: Best of Show: $1,000 Runner Up: $500 Cate­gory Winners: $250 Plus: Congdon Yards Generator Time

Student Contest Prizes: Best of Show: $1,000 Runner Up: $500 Cate­gory Winners: $250 Plus: Congdon Yards Generator Time

Judging: Our five judges will select a final 25 to 30 from all the entries. These final­ists will be invited to ship their prod­ucts to our ware­house in High Point, North Carolina so that they may be displayed at the inno­va­tion plus design exhi­bi­tions. Freight for these selected prod­ucts will be subsi­dized by Old Domin­ion and our sponsors.

The Gener­a­tor at Congdon Yards: Devel­oped in part­ner­ship with SCM Wood­work­ing Tech­nol­ogy, The Gener­a­tor makes indus­trial-grade wood­work­ing machin­ery acces­si­ble to all furni­ture design­ers and makers, Winners of the INNOVATION+DESIGN compe­ti­tion can advance their most daring ideas into proto­type and produc­tion with their benefit of free time in this state of the art facility!

MEET THE DESIGNER EVENT: Local and inter­na­tional press cover­age during the compe­ti­tion and just prior to the exhi­bi­tion will culmi­nate with our ​“Meet the Designer” event to be held in The Loft and Congdon yards on the evening of Septem­ber 21st from 7 – 8:30 pm when the winners will be announced. Mix and mingle with ISFD board members and members of the furni­ture indus­try’s design community.
