Full scholarship and materials for a BIPOC, NGB, or female-identifying individual.

October 11 – 162021

This class will be taught by Eric Cannizzaro and hosted by Greg Pennington Windsor Chairs in Hendersonville TN. The class covers all the processes and techniques needed to make a ladder back chair. We will use a combination of hand tool and machine methods, and create the finished surfaces with the drawknife and spokeshave. We will cover working from the log vs. sawn stock, steam bending, drilling methods, sharpening, approaches to joinery, and more. Seats will be woven with hickory bark, a traditional ladder back seat material. There wont be time to paint the chairs during class, but we will discuss options for finishing at home. This class is open to all skill levels.
