Family Dinner A solo exhi­bi­tion by Vivian Chiu at Penland School of Craft

For her upcom­ing solo exhi­bi­tion FAMILY DINNER at the Penland Gallery, Vivian Chin further devel­ops the body of work she began in Passages (those that carried us), expand­ing the series of sculp­tural vessels to incor­po­rate narra­tive marquetry, explor­ing conjoined vessels, larger-scale, and revolv­ing vessels with inte­rior rotat­ing imagery. The marquetry will explore the artist’s narra­tive via child­hood memo­ries, portraits, and food from Chiu’s expan­sive family dinners in Hong Kong.
