Executive Director The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship — Rockport, ME
The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship has launched a formal search for the successor to Founder and Executive Director, Peter Korn, who plans to retire at the end of 2021.
The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship’s Founder and Executive Director, Peter Korn, plans to retire at the end of 2021 and we have launched a formal search for his successor. The Board of Directors is looking for an Executive Director who will embrace the history and mission of the School, while implementing new initiatives to expand its effectiveness in meeting the educational needs of contemporary designer/woodworkers. The Board has formed a Search Committee, chaired by Vice President Mark Tresnowski, to undertake the search process. The Search Committee has hired the executive search firm Korn Ferry, and specifically the team of Rosa Morris and Charlie Ingersoll, to serve as our partners and help guide the search. If you know of potential candidates, please forward their names to Rosa (Rosa.Morris@KornFerry.com) for consideration.
Peter’s long-planned decision to turn the school over to new leadership is taking effect at a time when CFC has completed Phases 1 and 2 of a major endowment campaign that leverages the tremendous accomplishments of the school’s first three decades for greater societal impact. We are deeply grateful for Peter’s vision, guidance, and profound commitment to teaching design and craftsmanship at the highest standard of excellence.
Despite the disruptions of the pandemic, the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship is well positioned for the future. Although we suspended classes for six months in 2020, we are once again open and running at full enrollment, with robust safety protocols in place. CFC enters this search and leadership transition with an exceptionally strong foundation in place: a global reputation for excellence, a dedicated full-time staff, an outstanding international faculty of accomplished designer/woodworkers, enthusiastic students and committed alumni, a devoted and active nationwide Board of Directors, and a sound financial position. We will continue to build on our strengths and traditions.
