Michael deForest has been a professional woodworker since 1975. Michael received his MFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design (2000) and since graduating has taught with the Wood Department of Oregon College of Art and Craft (1993 -2017) and worked with children at Catlin Gabel School (1996 - 2013). His work uses various methods of subtracting and adding, bending, and joining wood to create asymmetrical forms with compound curved surfaces.
