David Fleming was a dog musher and bush pilot in northwest Alaska, where he learned pre-industrial woodworking methods while living 300 miles from the nearest road. He studied with James Krenov in 1984-86, and currently teaches woodworking at Arizona State University and privately in his Scottsdale studio.
