Spencer Cleary

Spencer Cleary is a crafts­man based in Port­land, Maine. Spencer attended Maine College of Art and Design and received his Bach­e­lor of Fine Arts degree in wood­work­ing and furni­ture design in May of 2023. Spencer works as a furni­ture maker in Lewis­ton, Maine, and co-owns Collated Craft with Olivia Van Oot, a small wood­work­ing studio in Port­land, Maine . As an artist and wood­worker, Spencer’s affin­ity for curves has domi­nated his educa­tion and explo­ration of ways to manip­u­late wood. Spencer designs with inten­tion­al­ity, while also allow­ing the mate­r­ial to dictate deci­sions along the way, creat­ing an organic process from design, build, and finish where each piece holds its own unique set of characteristics.
