I am a skilled wood­worker who uses marquetry to create images inspired by the natural world. Some­times these images are designed with the aim of creat­ing a beau­ti­ful and inspir­ing piece that provides nurtu­rance to those who see it or use it. Other times the imagery enables a deeper explo­ration of the rela­tion­ships between humans and the rest of the natural world. And most often, my main subjects are birds.

Marquetry is an elegant and ancient tech­nique done by assem­bling thin slices of wood to form an image. I do the work by hand using veneers that I slice myself, utiliz­ing the endless color, grain, and variety of woods from around the world. My goal is to make hand­crafted objects that inspire and nurture.
