Michael Hurwitz’s work is represented in several public collections including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Mass. and the Smithsonian Institute in Wash. DC. He has shown extensively, including several solo exhibitions at the Peter Joseph Gallery and Pritam and Eames Gallery in NY. Hurwitz is the recipient of many honors including three National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowships, Japan Foundation Fellowship, Pew Fellowship in the Arts and a Tiffany Foundation Award. Hurwitz earned a BFA from Boston University’s Program in Artisanry in 1979 and was Head of the Wood Department at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia between 1985 and 1989. He continues to maintain a studio in Philadelphia where he designs and makes one‐ of‐the kind pieces of furniture.
