Furniture Society Executive Director Position Description

The Furniture Society Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Trustees to realize the mission of the organization. The FS seeks a highly energetic, self-motivated and skilled leader to work under the guidance of the board to help the Furniture Society flourish.   

Candidates can be based anywhere in the continental United States and will be expected to travel as needed to fulfill their job requirements.  

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Grant writing and fundraising
  2. Planning and execution of annual budget.
  3. Serving as primary spokesperson to the organization membership.
  4. Ensure day-to-day operations are performed, including management of:
    1. Membership
    2. Finance
    3. Communications
  5. Provide logistical organization and support for all FS events.  
  6. Contribute to employment and administrative policies.
  7. Organize and facilitate Board and committee meetings.
  8. Other duties as agreed to by the Board of Directors.

 

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in arts administration or related field.
  • Strong communication skills including public speaking and digital correspondence.
  • Three years of non-profit management experience.
  • Budget management skills.
  • Fundraising and Grants writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Passion and knowledge of art, design and craft.
  • Experience with the implementation and use of current management and organizational software.
  • Basic software programming ability preferred but not required.
