Profile of David Welter

Coming off an Iowa dairy farm, David Welter owes his current position in part to the encouragement of his high school shop teacher. His first regularly paying job was cabinet setting in Winnebagos. Progressing to employment under a humble masterful carpenter, then in architectural millworks, he took the leap of faith of becoming a student of James Krenov in 1982. Good fortune allowed him the position of aide at the College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking in Fort Bragg, CA in 1986. He has since served as secretary, janitor, maintenance, archiver, and has been responsible for acquisition of supplies and for whatever goes wrong in daily operations there.
