Dear Furniture Society Member,
As this year comes to a close, we’re reaching out for support.
As a member of the Furniture Society, you are a steward of excellence, refinement, responsibility and craftsmanship in furniture making. Together, we nurture education and community, create meaningful opportunities and resources for our members, and advocate for the importance of fine furniture.
In 2015, with your support, the Furniture Society provided scholarships to members to attend workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Anderson Ranch, launched our latest book Rooted with Schiffer Publishing, exhibited at ICFF in New York, AWFS in Las Vegas, WestEdge in Santa Monica, and through a curated exhibition HOME in Durham, North Carolina during our symposium. We’ve hosted regional events in Chicago, New York, San Diego, and Seattle, to say nothing of the major improvements to the website and the members’ gallery.
Next year promises to pack an even more impressive punch. We've partnered with the Center for Art in Wood and the University of the Arts for our 20th Anniversary Conference this June in Philadelphia, expanded our scholarship and exhibition opportunities, and have forged partnerships with excellent organizations such as Craft in America, American Craft, and the Philadelphia Furniture Show just to name a few. 2016 is shaping up to be a great one!
But we can’t do it alone.
This year, I’m asking you to consider a monetary gift to keep this organization thriving. Next year the Furniture Society turns TWENTY years old. If you’ve never given before, please consider giving $20 for our Twentieth!
And if you give regularly, see if you can dig a little deeper, and maybe add $20 (or more) to your usual amount. If you usually give $50, consider $70; if you typically give $100, can you make it $200? We welcome whatever size donation is right for you. It all goes towards programming that makes this organization great.
We couldn’t do this without your support, thank you for your membership and we hope to see you next year!
President, The Furniture Society Board of Trustees
